Performance

When I was kid i used to always look for my mum and friends in the crowd whilst on the stage and once i hit about the age of 12 i realised that it made my performance weak so i have learnt to not look at the audience.
I tend to fix a spot on the back wall and look at that because if i see a friend or family member it puts me off and i loose focus easily the moment i see them so by looking at the wall it helps keep me in focus and not loose where i am. I try to stay in the moment of the song, with everything i do in order for me to perform at my best i have to have a charater because with every dance i am telling a story and i can convey what ever that story may be without a charater and acting. acting comes hand in hand with dancing and it helps get across the intent with the audience and i cannot perform on stage without acting so that helps me stay in focus because if i do see a friend or family member i am acting as somebody else who wouldnt know them so i pretend like they are just strangers to me.

The performance is the very thing that we spend so long working towords so to not put on a wonderful performance would be a crime.

Pre performance

before the performance’s I had to insure that i was well hydrayted, had enough food in me so that i would have enough energy for the performance. I know were not meant to but i tend to have a “V” before the show and just take sips throughout the show in order to keep my energy at a high.

We have to war up properly so i would play some music through the speakers and start warming up with steph and zach, plus when we started to warm up the year 7’s and 8’s joined in aswell which was good because we wanted them to be warm aswell.
Before eachshow i lay out all my costumes in the order i perform them so that i can just grab them and not have to get all paranoid about not being able to find my costume’s. My hair and make up is dont at least an hour before the show and then i put my lippy on about 5 minutes before we go on.

for me to realx i have to be by myself for a littlewhile in order to feel “calm” so i find a quite place and just finish off my streaching whilst taking deep breathes and going through the choreography in my head, I find that if im around people before i go on stage i loose focus and then dont perform to the best of my ability so by removing myself from the hyped energy it calms and relaxs me and puts me in the right mind set for the opening act.

I know it sound weird but I HAVE to cough and blow my nose before a show, I’m not sure why but its just one of those weird before show things. Its like my friend who has to eat a bannana before a gig…

All of these things help me before the show and help me to perform at my best though before my girst item I always have some nerves but they are ones that wont go away and ive taught myself to cut down those nerves by “removing myself from hyped up peers”

Michael Eather's lighting

the Base colours used were white, pink and Blue.

A key element in Dance Lighting is Side Lighting. Open White was used as a base for the stage wash. It creates body sculpting and is a very effective way to light dance

An overhead wash of pink and white was also used as a wash. This was chosen to help enhance the costume choice

Pink was also used on the Cyclorama

Blue lights were used to light the side black drapes to enhance the overall stage look, and create a bit of contrast from the pink.

Movement was added with the use of intelligent (moving) lighting. Open white was chosen to create a bold look.

The movement was fast and energetic as it suited the song choice.

For a (in ya face) effect, Audience Blinders were used for key moments during the song.

For the instrumental (crazy) parts of the song, the intelligent lights were set to a strobe function, while also pulling down the intensity of all other lights on stage this created a very fun and energetic lighting look

Costumes

Originally we wanted to have our own style dress with any colour combat boots which i personally thought would of looked more cheeky and fun and gone with the intent but we changed the costume to patteren tights/leggings with any colour combat boot, A hot pink crop top and a big pink bow.

I didnt love what we ended up with, I thought it was a little be too much i would of perferd the original idea but i have to admit that on the stage it did look affectve with the lighting and everything.
